It’s pretty difficult to believe that HANDLES only formed last year. Since then, the Cairns based band have developed a fully-formed sound that it’d take most bands years to carve out.
Now, with the release of their new single Selfish Lover, it seems the five-piece are ready to take their sounds to audiences all over the country. We’re stoked to be premiering it for you today.
With the release of their new single Selfish Lover, Cairns based five-piece HANDLES have carved out a unique spot for themselves in the Aussie indie-rock scene.
HANDLES started when best mates Andrew Martin and Luke Hanlon formed the band at the beginning of last year, and now, with the addition of Jordan Brodie, Max McLachlan and Ned McLachlan, the five-piece look poised for pretty big things.
Across their new track, HANDLES saunter through a captivating blend of soulful indie-rock to deliver a sound that’s uniquely their own. The new single is a slow-burning rock number that simmers away before bursting into a dynamic groove.
With a searing guitar solo that cuts like a hot knife through butter, Selfish Lover climaxes in the most raucous way possible. The song ropes you in, holds your attention, and leaves you no choice but to dance. Selfish Lover is an exciting listen from start to finish.
With textured instrumentation and introspective lyrical content, the band have crafted a truly endearing piece of music. By the time Selfish Lover reaches the conclusion of its four-minute duration, you’ll find yourself immersed completely in its captivating sounds.
While these are still early days for the Northern Queensland band, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes courtesy of HANDLES. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait long to hear what they deliver next.
For now, do yourself a favour and listen to the new single above.
